Hot Apple Cider
Apples, apples and more apples this week! I can’t help myself. I see them everywhere and daydream of the delicious recipes I will make this season. This recipe is an old favorite with a modern twist–add caramel! It requires an afternoon to create but is very simple. It just sits on the counter making your entire home smell of apples.
Ingredients:
1/2 gallon apple cider (try to get it fresh at the farmers market)
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 tsp. cider vinegar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 cinnamon stick
6 whole cloves
1 orange, sliced
1/3 c. caramel topping
Combine all ingredients except caramel in a slow cooker. Cover and cook on low setting for 6 hours. Strain and discard spices and orange. Serve with a teaspoon of topping in each mug. Sinful.
